Vanceboro is located 16 miles NE of New Bern and lays along Swift Creek.  Conveniently located to Greenville and Washington as well (Washington NC, referred to as 'Little Washington')

Established in 1750, Vanceboro was first know as Durgantown. In 1877 the citizens renamed the village Vanceboro in honor of Gov. Vance (Zebulan B. Vance came through the year earlier making a campaign speech for governor)

A community built on small town values. Today the town covers approximately 1176 acres with a population of approximately 1020.
